SiteStudio Online Documentation

Moving SiteStudio Demo Account to Live Account

SiteStudio has a demo part called 'SiteStudio On-line Demo'. It allows ANY visitor to access it and build a site.

Say, a user built a site with SiteStudio On-line Demo, then he/she decided to buy a hosting account and move the created site to that account.

SiteStudio Demo is accessible by the following URL (for SiteStudio 1.6RC3 and 1.6): http://[SS_SERVER_IP]:[PORT]/demo/

Where: [SS_SERVER_IP] - server IP where SiteStudio is installed, [SS_PORT] - port SiteStudio is running on (usually 8080)

When visitor enters the above URL in his browser, SiteStudio Demo assigns the user an ID with the following format: demo_[DEMOID] (with default SiteStudio settings DEMOID gets values from 100 to 200). E.g.: demo_100, demo_101, ... , demo_123 and so on.

The DEMOID is stored in user's browser as a cookie for a month.

Site created in SiteStudio Demo is stored in the directory: [SS_INSTALL_DIR]/demo/WEB-INF/var/websites/ in the file: [DEMOID].website.data.

For example, a visitor who builds a site with SiteStudio was assigned DEMOID=111, the site data is stored in the file: [SS_INSTALL_DIR]/demo/WEB-INF/var/websites/111.website.data

After site is published, its content (HTML pages with images etc.) is stored in the directory: [SS_INSTALL_DIR]/demo/demo_[DEMOID]/ (or other place which is set in the [SS_INSTALL_DIR]/demo/WEB-INF/classes/psoft_config/masonry.properties file) and is accessible at: http://[SS_SERVER_IP]:[SS_PORT]/demo/demo_[DEMOID]/

For example, a user's site (HTML pages) with DEMOID=111 is published into the directory: [SS_INSTALL_DIR]/demo/demo_111/ and is accessible at: http://[SS_SERVER_IP]:[SS_PORT]/demo/demo_111/

Moving published site into live account.

This procedure can be done only by SiteStudio owner or administrator. To do it:

  1. Create SiteStudio account in Admin Panel. (For more info, please see Admin Panel Demo and Admin Panel Guide). After account was created, it has an ACCID used to store site data.

  2. Move file:
    [SS_INSTALL_DIR]/demo/WEB-INF/var/websites/[DEMOID].website.data
    to file:
    [SS_INSTALL_DIR]/var/websites/[ACCID].website.data
  3. Compress the content of the [SS_INSTALL_DIR]/demo/demo_[DEMOID]/ directory.
  4. Upload or move the content and then decompress it into the document root of the user's site on the user's web server.

For example:
A user built a site with DEMOID=111, and a new account was created with ACCID=22 for that client. So SiteStudio owner/administrator should:

  1. Move file:
    [SS_INSTALL_DIR]/demo/WEB-INF/var/websites/111.website.data
    to file:
    [SS_INSTALL_DIR]/var/websites/22.website.data
  2. Compress the content of the [SS_INSTALL_DIR]/demo/demo_111/ directory.
  3. Upload or move the content and then decompress it into the document root of the user's site on the user's web server.
